Hi All,

This is the official post to let you all know that I am pregnant again!

We are due on October 31st and this time around I will be continuing to post food and weight topics here but general pregnancy updates will be posted at my other blog, Mothering My Way.

Since I am considered overweight going into this pregnancy I am going to aim to keep the weight gain at a minimum around 20 lbs total.  So I am going to do this goal style and each week list goals I would like to accomplish including weight gain goals and follow up throughout the week to see where I am.

Last pregnancy I stopped really weighing myself around week 12 and I think that was a big mistake, I had a few months where I put on way to much weight in one month and overall I gained 60lbs which I am still 5lbs away from loosing all of it.  I would really like to not have to spend most of next year trying to get back to where I am now just to still have another 30lbs to loose.

Goals for this week:

  1. Track food everyday
  2. Drink 64oz water per day
  3. Exercise 3x this week, running
  4. Weight next week 166

Derailed Diet

So I just don’t know what is up with me the last couple of days but since Saturday I have been off plan.  I just can’t seem to get with it.  It another self destructive cycle where I am doing really well loosing weight and getting where I need to go then I just feel like I can’t stop myself.  I keep thinking I don’t want that fast food or pastry from the coffee shop and I’m not even supposed to be eating their until after lent anyway but I did and I am and I stepped on the scale this morning after being 165-166 all of last week to see 168.2.  Holy cow.

So today I got my food journal out and so far it’s been hard to not have a little something here and there that is off plan but I am going to push through and eat on plan.  I have to loose this weight, I hate being this heavy and I want to be thin and healthy.  Even a little thin would be nice.  I have a ton of clothes that should fit me within 10 or so pounds lost but what do I do.  Jump off the wagon and go to bad food land.

I mean I am just so mad at myself right now.  I did nothing all of February after having a great January and I don’t want it to take 6 months to loose 10lbs like it did last year.

Anyway that is my rambling.  I am going to stick to it today and hopefully stick to it tomorrow too.

New Weight For Me

So I know it really hasn’t been that long but it feels like forever since I updated my number.  Well I got on the scale yesterday to see 165.8, I am really excited about this number because it means I am far far away from the 170′s hopefully for good.  Today I got back on the scale and it said the same thing so I think it’s here to stay.

So I have lost a total of 52.2 lbs since December 23rd, 2008.  I am very proud of myself that is the most weight that I have ever lost in my life and I keep thinking to myself if I keep going and get down to 118 I will have lost 100lbs.  I have not weighted 118 since probably elementary school so this is kind of a stretch for me and I am keeping my current goal of 140 for this year.  But we will see how it goes.

So last night for dinner we had faux pizza and D said it should go on the top of my recipes. So here it goes.

Ingredients:
4 cups spaghetti squash
1 egg
1/4 cup grated Parmesan Cheese
1/2 cup tomato sauce
1 cup mushrooms
1 red pepper
8 oz ground turkey
1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese

Directions:
1. Cook 1 spaghetti squash (I poke several times with a knife and microwave whole for 10 minutes). Cut open, clean seeds from center and discard.

2. Scrape flesh into a bowl and let cool for a bit. Add 1 egg, 1/4 cup grated Parmesan Cheese, and salt and pepper to taste and mix well.

3. Spray a pie plate or shallow casserole with non stick spray and spread spaghetti squash mixture to form a thick “crust”. Bake at 400 until the crust begins to brown, approx 30-45 minutes minutes.

4. Top with 1/2 cup marinara sauce or tomato sauce, and any pizza-type toppings you desire (veggies, turkey pepperoni, sausage, olives). Finish off with 1/2 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, and 1/8 cup grated Parmesan. Bake an additional 20 mins. until the cheese is melty and bubbly and beginning to brown.

5. Cut into wedges and serve. Serves 4 generously.

I got this recipet from the fabulous people at 3fatchicks South Beach Forum.

Long Time No Post

Sorry everyone it’s been so long since my last post.  Lots of things have happened in the almost two weeks.  First I still weight the same, 167.

I went on vacation to Florida to see my grandpa and it was great.  They have had bad weather, for Florida, but we got great weather.  We took Xander to the circus which he loved and to the beach which he loved too.  I ran 4 of the 6 days we were there and it made me earn for sunny weather here in Michigan.  We also swam 3 times.  Each day we were on vacation I wrote down everything I ate and didn’t cheat but just a little bit, however I did go back up to 169 which I think was mostly water weight since I’m back down after two days of being home.  It was a great vacation!

I applied for a new job, with a great company and I’m really excited about it.  I had a first interview and it went really well, good enough that after a week of waiting to hear back they asked for a second interview.  So right now I am waiting to hear back about when they would like to do the second interview.  Going on day 5 now, since I replied.

We booked a vacation to CO in September!  We will be visiting my family and old friends from back in the day.  On a personal/social level my best friend from my teen years told me she doesn’t want to be my friend any more.  But I have reconnected with several other friends from back then in the same area that we will be visiting.  Not to mention having the best French Toast in the whole world at the Village Smithy in Carbondale, CO.  I am still not over the whole bff breakup and have been feeling very sad about it.

Oh the food side I am trying to focus on portion control and cutting back on sizes to get a better weight loss.  I think I could loose 2lbs a week if I really try and just get this weight off.  We’ll see it’s hard but since I have been working out so much if I can get a handle of what I’m eating I think it would be good.

On my lent I have done so so I did have Starbucks twice while I was away as well as some Panera Bread but I have not had any fast food and I have not had any pastries.  I am going to keep at it.

So what has been going on in your life?

Happy Fat Tuesday Everyone!

So Fat Tuesday also known here in Michigan as Paczki Day. Where people all over the great state of Michigan gorge themselves on these wonderful donuts that contain about 25 grams of fat and 400+ calories each.

Today I was thinking all about the greatness of eating one of these and because I didn’t want to buy a whole dozen I instead went to Starbucks and got an apple fritter. AH! Why do I do this to myself? Anyone.

Here I am doing good and trying to recover from overeating this weekend and I go and eat a freakin donut. I hate my brain sometimes.

So Lent starts tomorrow and everyone is supposed to give up something important to them for lent. I am giving up. . . Fast food and Starbucks. It will be hard, I’m going to Florida on Thursday morning so I will have to find a way to deal at the airport. But I am committed no fast food or Starbucks for 40 days and 40 nights.

So my question is what are you giving up?

January Weight Loss

I really can’t believe it but I have lost, 5.8lbs in January.

That is a huge number for me. I don’t think I have lost that much in one month ever maybe.  I have just been really focused on what I eat and writing everything down in my new little notebook has really made the difference.  I think that if I don’t want to write something down I shouldn’t be eating it.

I have joined the 3fatchicks.com forum for the South Beach diet and they are doing a lot of great things with accountability. One is a daily challenge for 64 days, the challenge I chose was to exercise or meal plan. Which I have been doing great at 3 days in a row so far. The other is monthly weight goal, so my weight loss goal for February is 5lbs. I think I can do it again. Especially with the impending trip to Mexico just on the horizon.

My montra while I have been working out has been 150 by May. I have also been thinking about the Road Ends 5 Mile latley and I want to do not just good but great this year.  The first year I ran it I got 1:13:19 as my time.  Last year at 190lbs and 4 month post partum I got, 1:31:44.  It was a really bad time.  This year my goal is 1 hour.

So here is a cheer for February at the end of this month I’ll weight 163 and hopefully be able to run 1 mile without stopping.

Body After Baby: January 17- January 23

Wednesday, 27 January 2010, 14:29 | Category : Body after Baby

I know the title says from the 17th-23rd, but I weighted in today.  Well actually I weight in everyday, it’s a little obsession I have and I think it helps me stay on track.  So for an new all time, post baby, low my weight was 168.2!!!!!! this is a 1.8lb loss this week a great week for me and it puts me just .2lbs away from having lost 50lbs since Xander was born.

This week I did great, I didn’t sneak any food and I only stopped at Starbucks once!  I need to start looking at my financial fitness along with my health fitness so I am going to try to stop any excess spending.  We really don’t need anything at this point that we don’t already have and I would like to apply as much money as possible to paying off some of the debt we have.  Also we are starting to explore the option of combining our checking accounts. And even though we both have doubts about doing it I think it would make both of us more financially responsible.  Especially me since I have been know to overdraft on silly stuff like Starbucks coffee.

So added to my goals this week and from now on is no spending on anything that is not an absolute, so for the most part just grocery store food and the occasional coffee.  Tim Horton’s where possible.

So here are my goals from last week:

  1. Do the Wii fitness or Biggest Looser at least 3 times and make it to the Gym 3 times: I did this and it felt great I made it to the gym 4 times and did the wii 3 times with one day off
  2. Stick to SBD and track at least 4 days: I stuck to my diet about 90% it was great, and I got a small notebook to write everything that I eat throughout the day down in.
  3. Go one week without buying any Starbucks for myself: I did go to Starbucks once this week, not bad considering I’m a 5-8 times a week Starbucks drinker
  4. Weigh in at 168, solidly in the 160’s and out of the 170’s forever! I weight in at 168.2 today!

So as for my goals this week go:

I’m going to not worry about working out so much this week, Xander is very sick and I can’t take him to the childcare center at the gym and he is having a hard time breathing which means his naps are an hour or two with interruption every 15-20 minutes so he has been sleeping in my lap all week.

  1. Write down all of my food intake for the entire week (good and bad), stick to my diet as much as possible.
  2. Weight in at 167.2 by Sunday January 31!
  3. Go one week without purchasing anything that is not absolutly necessary

Our gracious host Samantha at Mama Notes has posed us the question, what is your favorite healthy snack?

Being on the South Beach Diet it’s actually a requirement that you snack to keep your metabolism functioning properly throughout the day.  Some of my favorite South Beach Snacks are:
